Design without compromise

Hirsla stands for transparency and design with natural materials.

We love working with limitations and finding solutions with what nature gives us.

In doing so, we help you make informed and sustainable decisions.

Our 4 principles

These principles shape every decision we make

Plastic-free

We consistently avoid the use of plastic. This is how we contribute to promoting sustainable alternatives.

Organic

We avoid synthetic pesticides, genetic engineered materials, and mineral fertilizers. We promote sustainable soil management and animal welfare-appropriate husbandry.

Compostable

All our products are made from compostable materials, natural minerals and fully recyclable metals.

Transparent

We value openness in all processes. Origin, ingredients, and production paths are traceable.

Prjónastokkur - Icelandic Craftsmanship Reimagined

The Icelandic knitting needle box or "Prjónastokkur" is a centuries-old symbol of Icelandic culture and craftsmanship.

HIRSLA's Prjónastokkur – decorated with the unique Höfðaletur script, combines this Icelandic tradition with contemporary design.

Crafted entirely from wood, our goal was to create a unique gift for big milestones such as birthdays, weddings, or other special occasions.

The vision for HIRSLA

HIRSLA's goal is to develop aesthetically pleasing products of the highest quality—made from pure, carefully selected materials.

In craft, design, and architecture, aesthetics and quality is what matters most. Yet, the origin and processing of materials often remain hidden.

We aim to be transparent and disclose which materials we use and where they come from—right down to the packaging. This ensures that you will gain a clear and honest insight into how we operate.

The people behind HIRSLA

We are two sisters from Iceland. While one of us studied architecture in Germany, the other specialized in design and craftsmanship in Norway.

Today, we unite our different fields. We combine Scandinavian aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship with clear architectural forms and technological innovation in our projects.
